Winston Ryan Keith
I began my professional career in photography working as a news and documentary photographer at WRAL-TV in Raleigh, North Carolina. During my careers in television broadcasting, I developed skills in accurately documenting events using still photography, motion picture photography and videography.
Here are some highlights of my photographic career:
In 2010, I traveled to Uganda, Africa as a member of the Embrace Uganda mission team ( embraceuganda.org ) to document their humanitarian work with the poor children.
Photographer for the Coach Norm Sloan, NC State Basketball weekly TV program. Yes, I was one of those guys who sat under the basketball goal and frequently got run over by some of the best ACC basketball players of the early 1970’s.
In 1974, while working for WFMY-TV in Greensboro, NC, I provided film coverage for CBS Network Sports of the NCAA Men’s Championship game where North Carolina State University fought its way to victory over Marquette.
Traveled across North Carolina and provided the photography for WRAL-TV’s original TarHeel Traveler. This award winning TV series took a look at some of the beautiful and interesting North Carolina locations and visited with some “crusty old folks” who gave great on-camera interviews.
As Chief Photographer at WRAL-TV in Raleigh, NC, I provided news film and video coverage of several US Presidential and Vice-Presidential visits to North Carolina and traveled to the White House to film North Carolina Governor James Hunt as he met with President Jimmy Carter.
During this time at WRAL-TV, I developed an operations manual and trained the news photographic team. These actions were a major part of facilitating a seamless transition from film coverage of news events to live video breaking news and video recording of news events.

More:
Through the years, I have done portraits, weddings, special events, scenic photography and videography. My approach to event coverage is to use the documentary disciplines that I learned during my time in television news. With a watchful eye and a click of the shutter, I capture images of very special moments that can be shared and enjoyed
for many years to come.
